Welcome Welcome message from Mr McDaid

Welcome to our school website! As you navigate your way through this site I hope that your overwhelming impression is that we are a nurturing school. I hope you see a school that offers your child opportunities to learn and to achieve – a school that develops and enriches your child through their daily experiences.

Most especially we are an Integrated school and in this environment, we talk about who we are and what we believe – we respect our own and others' cultures and backgrounds and take on the challenges that living in Northern Ireland continues to present.

We are a Forest school and develop the curriculum through outdoor learning. We are proud of this and of our Eco School Status. We aim to help each child fulfil their potential and aspire to give them skills to be wonderful citizens of the future. I invite you to come and visit and see for yourself and look forward to meeting you in the near future!

Parent/Carer Workshops

Dear Parents/Carers,

Worry and anxiety is a commonly experienced emotion amongst primary school pupils and can often be a normal reaction to areas of stress and change.  However, when children experience high levels of anxiety for a longer period of time, it may begin to impact on other areas of their lives, including school.

At Hazelwood, we recognise that some children may need additional emotional support and our counsellor, Lynne Dornan, has worked with many of our pupils to help them recognise their emotions and learn strategies to help them when they feel overwhelmed.

If you are a parent/carer of a child presenting with worry and/or anxiety it can often be a difficult time.  We would like to offer some support to our parents/carers who are facing this challenge and Lynne is going to lead 6 weeks of workshops for parents beginning on Wednesday 15 April from 3-4pm.  Children can be supervised in school during this time to allow parents/carers to attend.

If you are interested in attending the workshops, please click on the form link below, or if you would like more information, please contact Mrs Blair or Miss Agnew through the school office.
